Racing Last Weekend
The bandits were in Bratislava last weekend participating in the World Series Race. This race series is brand new and open to any participants. The whole thing is based around the idea that cash prizes makes for good races, and this weekend proved the theory. It was a star studded event with Slovakians taking the top prizes in every catagory on the home course.
I myself had a poor race but not completely bad. I had great splits at the top on my first run and was more than 3 seconds up on the likes of Derek and Paul. I ran into trouble at the bottom and lost heaps of time in up 18 just before the drop aptly named Niagara. In the drop I lost a little time and finished the run way down in the standings. I couldn't wuite replicate my top half on the second run although I fixed a few things, but messed up others. The bottom wasn't any better than the first, and I finished in 50th place for the second weekend in a row.
In other news it seems life in Canada doesn't just go on hold when we leave the counrty. Junior trials happened last weekend and the team has been decided.
K1w: Kathleen Tayler, Katrina van Wijk, Thea Froehlich (all ON)
C1: Spencer Pomeroy (ON), Julian Potvin-Bernal (QC), Cam Smedley (ON)
K1m: Ben Hayward (AB), Babacar Daoust-Cisse (QC), Jean-Patrick Blanchette (QC)
Additionally, we have invited to the Junior Pre-Worlds:
Breanne Lyons (AB), Francois St. Aubin-Migneault (QC), Ian Williams (ON).
Congratulations to everyone who raced. I'm sure full results can be found somewhere on the web, but i'm not sure how to post them...
